Catherine MacLellan releases a new four track EP called Holiday at the end of November.

Juno award winning singer/songwriter Catherine MacLellan is set to release a new festive flavoured EP called Holiday featuring a brand new tune and three classy covers.

The new song is called Calling You Home (For The Holidays) and was written by Catherine during last Christmas. “I wrote “Calling You Home (for the Holidays)” during Christmas 2020, feeling very far from family and friends that would normally gather around my kitchen table for feasts and laughter,” she said.

“I’ve always wanted to make a record to celebrate the holiday season and I hope to make a series of these small, bite-sized collections. On November 26th, I will be sharing my four song EP Holiday with the public.”

One of the covers I love on the EP is Elvis Presley’s Blue Christmas. Catherine does a lovely version of this, dare it say it a better version that the original! Well, I’ve said it now! I do genuinely prefer this version maybe because it’s fresh and I’ve heard the Elvis version so many times over the years or just maybe Catherine’s beautiful voice and the laid back guitar arrangement sounds so simple yet so gorgeous.

The one original on the EP is equally as delightful and after a slow, sparse acoustic guitar opening picks up into a midtempo song. Remaining fairly sparse throughout it’s a lovely song and the clarity of Catherine’s voice shines through.

A lovely Ep and a good addition to your holiday collection. And Palm Tree Radio is playing Christmas music from December 1st so listen out for tracks from the EP on air.
